Bill Weir, on iPad factories. →
Bill Weir’s writing style sounds rather sarcastic, and at first I thought a girl had written it. o.O I didn’t want to jump to any conclusions, so I looked him up on the internet. He doesn’t sound sarcastic when he reports verbally, and he doesn’t seem very hostile toward Apple, either, as he uses its products himself. But this article… it initially seemed otherwise....

I’ve noticed, there’s this weird thing people on Tumblr do. “Fuck you followers who unfollowed me..” and… “i’m only 16 away from my next hundred wah, this is killing me!” and even… “I’ve been stuck in the 1300s for a couple months now, smh.” and… the most hilarious (and by hilarious I mean “ironic”) of all the...

Alex: So what do you do on Tumblr—just post pictures and wait for people to comment on them or something?
Elise: You kind of just trick yourself into thinking people care about you.

Ways To Die
mitochondria: Drowning. After panic, water inhalation and laryngospasm, “a feeling of calmness and tranquility” sets in, according to reports from survivors. Heart attack. At the outset, it feels like an elephant sitting on one’s chest. A heart attack can lead to a long, slow death. Blood loss. Exsanguination, in medical terminology. Death could come nearly instantly if the aorta is cut, but...

I used to have an imaginary bird named “Piki”. When my mom would make pancakes, small drops of the batter would drip onto empty parts of the pan, and I’d set out these miniature pancakes on the side of my plate for Piki to eat. It’s not strange that I had forgotten about Piki—what’s strange is that my brother reminded me. =.=

In China, Human Costs Are Built Into an iPad →
bbcity: The explosion ripped through Building A5 on a Friday evening last May, an eruption of fire and noise that twisted metal pipes as if they were discarded straws. Two people were killed immediately, and over a dozen others hurt. As the injured were rushed into ambulances, one in particular stood out. His features had been smeared by the blast, scrubbed by heat and violence until a mat...

Me: [whispering] Hey Dad, how old is Grandpa?
Dad: ... Dad, how old are you?
Me: O___O
Grandpa: Uh... Almost eighty.
Mom: No, he's not that old yet! Mid-seventies at most!
Grandpa: Uh... well, I was born in year 25 (ROC).
Dad: You're seventy-five.
Grandpa: [nodding and returning attention to television] Oh.

I just realised how funny the word “button” sounds when said quickly in the general American accent: BUH-NN (with a glottal stop in the middle) It’s as if the letters “tto” have disappeared. o.O

A Scandal in Belgravia
Boohoo. I saw too many spoilers all over the internet regarding Sherlock, Season 2, Episode 1, before I actually watched the thing! D: I still thoroughly enjoyed watching it though! Can’t wait for the next episode. ;D - *SPOILER ALERT* My favourite parts of “A Scandal in Belgravia”: Watson: What are we doing here, Sherlock? Seriously, what? Sherlock: I don’t know....

So this is what I find in the comments on Snow...
A: Pity he has to take a dig at religion. His mention of no gods are present' is insulting and he does it again in life-ning.
B: I know, right? What's with this free speech thing, anyhow? Letting artists have opinions is really overrated. We should probably just get you to write all of the songs. In the world. It's a lot of work, I know, but how else are we going to make sure people don't say what they feel when it comes to religion?
A: not the point I'm making. He's had his opinion on religion and I disagree with it. His opinion is being heard by millions. Mine is seen by a few and only commented by you. The point I'm making is that stars like him have become like gods themselves and I just want kids to question everything they hear from everyone and make up their own opinion. My opinion is that he's saying that there's sky and earth there but no "gods" present. God (singular) made the whole thing and is there.
C: [@A] First, you're doing exactly what you're saying is wrong. You state your opinion as fact ("God (singular) made the whole thing and is there.") Not everyone believes in God. Second, he's not saying God or gods don't exist, he's talking about a place where people have no political or religious affiliations. You're allowed to believe whatever you want, just like everybody else. You can state your opinion, so why can't an artist express theirs through lyrics?
A: they can. And why can't I comment on their opinions if I disagree with them? When he says 'No gods are present, just the sky, the earth and me and you' he's actually insulting to me. Where does he think the sky, earth and we all came from? Nothing? God is always present. That's my opinion and as someone who bought the album it pisses me off that he says that, that's all.
D: [@A] if you want others to respect your opinion, respect others.
E: To all those who are being petty, how about we just agree to disagree. We all like Snow Patrol but we don't have to all like the same songs. [@A], you have your opinion about this song and the band's use of your religion and I applaud you. To all the others, I applaud you for letting your opinion be heard. We're all different and that's a good thing. So just smile and play on.

If Famous Writers had Written Twilight →
bookriot: You’re welcome. Friggin’ hilarious. The top comment (by a user named “unicycle”) after the article is funny, too: Dr Seuss’ version of Twilight, which goes as follows: Jake likes a girl. Her name is Bella. Bella likes a different fella. See this vamp? This is Ed. Ed is pale. Ed is dead. Ed saved Bella from a van. Ed must be a special man. Ed won’t...
